While many of our nursing leaders are being honored on IND and while the IDM celebrations are still at full swings, I feel compelled to speak out this dimension as well.

➡️ If any single Midwifery institute is singled out in Metropolis Karachi, in the Sindh province and even across Pakistan that has not only maintained the classic infrastructure, discipline and compassion of Nightingale Era (During British Rule in Indo-Pak Subcontinent) and integrating global advancements with changing times _in par excellence_ it is one and only the Cowasjee MW School Lady @ Dufferin Hospital, Karachi.

And ➡️if I am asked to name the single professional behind this impeccable success story ? No doubt it is Ms. Mahmooda Khwaja, the ```towering Principal```of CMW School, I would witness.
Having observed both Ms.Khwaja and her CMW -LDH for more than a decade, I often percieve her as the true _heir apparent_ of _national Midwifery Icon of global stature_ Apa Imtiaz Kamal. whom I knew for thirty years ago as I listen to her as PRN BScN student at SONAM

If asked➡️ why do I relate Ms. Khwaja with Apa Kamal ? I would say both are true embodiments of _great midwifery spirit whom I saw working closely. I witnessed both as assertive, non compromising and fearlessly defending the unique Midwifery Identity that they believe as different from nursing but not its competator rather a complementing co- profession.
I am absolutely sure that time will dawn soon when Ms. Khwaja and the CMW School-LDH will widely be recognized nationally and globally, more than today.

The Pakistan Nursing & Midwifery Council (PNMC) has introduced a new uniform dress code for nurses working in clinical settings across the country. The announcement, in an official letter from the PNMC dated January 31, 2024, stated guidance about professional attire of nursing staff in Pakistan. The new dress code approved during the 6th session of the council held from January 15-17, 2024, under the leadership of Ms. Farzana Zulfiger, President of PNMC, specifies new uniforms for male and female nurses.
