"On May,16,2025, a solemn and introspective Nurses' Day event was held at Rufayda Hamdard College of Nursing (RHCN) Hamdard University (HU), bringing together her Excellency Chancellor Sadia Rashid (H.I) with leadership of HU and top healthcare professionals: president Midwifery Association🇵🇰,Dr. RafatJan, Dr. Shaheen Zafar, Director Sindh Institute of Reproductively Medicines (SIRM) & PD of Koi Goth fame Midwifery Education.
True to its tradition, the serene event served as a poignant reminder of the tireless dedication and compassion that define the nursing and midwifery referring past, present and future prospects and challenges in our national context.

The Chancellor Sadia Rashid (H.I🇵🇰), - heiress of Shaheed Hakim Muhammad Saeed's legacy of immaculate eastern wisdom, said that erstwhile Rufayda School of Nursing was brain child of her great father that is revived as bustling College for it reminds us the Bibi Rufayda Sl Islamia who establish first nursing care institute in Media and served the communities both in battle fields and peace.
She paid laurels to Ms. Florence Nightingale who did the same and in the course of her long services laid the foundation of modern nursing. She appreciated the incredible services of Principal Ms.Alia Nasir and her team in building RHCN as one amongst the best.
Professor Dr.Rafat Jan, the president of Midwifery Associstion of 🇵🇰 ,founder of Midwifery Asian Association of Asia (MAA) and former member of Internation Confederation of Midwives (ICM) gave a thoughtful reflections on the evolution of modern Nursing with reference to happenings with Ms. Florence Nightingale durinYg Crimean War in 1854 and later on in London till her last days.

Her presentation particularly focussed on latest developments in Midwifery in Asia Pacific & Medeterian Region(AMRO) with national context.Addressing to large number of students and staff of Hamdard Hospital, Dr.Jan said that you are lucky being nurses and students in Hamdard University Hospital but more than that the support given by Chancellor to your institute and the faculty.
Director of famed Koi Goth Project of Midwifery Education and Sindh Institute of Reproductive Medicine (SIRM) said she feels great to be with the Chancellor Sadia Rashid on this important event. She briefed the 22 Years success story of Koi Goth Midwifery Project that brought a big change across Sindh..

She said when she served as Gunocologist in London, she read a book named "Empty Death" that changed her mind for ever. She started the Koi Goth Midwifery Project from scratches and to day hundreds of competent Midwives are delivering services across Sindh. This institute, she said, became predecessor to net work of hospitals, clinics and the SIRM.
Brigadier Riaz-ul-Haq, the CEO of Hamdard Hospital vindicated that today's hospitals are known for its nursing workforce. He said that the hospital will employ students once they are graduated.
Before guests speeches, Principal RHCN Ms.Alia Nasir, a Ph D Scholar, welcomed all esteemed guests. She thanked University and the Foundation leadership for supporting and investing on RHCN and the faculty. She said that IND Theme 2025 also underscores the investing in nursing. And today when we celebrate IND, we got an enhancement of seats up to 100. This evidence that Hamdard is echoing the theme of International Nursing Council.
Ex Director Nursing Shabir Hussain thanked the Esteemed Chancellor and RHCN for recognizing his services and bestowing a Shield on his retirement. He said that in his experience no institute has got such recognition in four years journey as RHCN.
