Q-CON Leads with Purpose: A Powerful IND Celebration Amid Tensions

The Qatar of College of Nursing (Q-CON), once in back ground public sector institute of Orangi Town, Karachi, has now become a trendsetter institute since Ms. Rubina Shar took over its rains as its Principal some two and half years ago. The celebration of IND on May 10 in its beautiful auditorium only confirmed its continuous innovative traditions.

This IND was being celbrated under the clouds of Pak-India War. The Q-CON Administration reflected this well innovatively.

First , the banners and flyers reflected nurses in action at battle fields.
Second , the students wore soldiers uniform reflecting their sister in Armed Forces Nursing Service ( AFNS) to show solidarity with soldiers at borders.
Third , the the tablos and speeches by honorable guests and the Principal also reflected the situation at borders.

The gathering of professionals from across the city and province made it a well representative congregation of professionals including Director Nursing Sindh, E.C Member of PN&MC from Sindh, top leadership of YNA Sindh, notables from public private sectors and scores of female leaders that made this event a symbol of strength and unity and awareness.

While speaking Director Nursing said that Sindh Government had doubled the induction of students this year allocating big financial sources. Deputy DNS Ms. Fakhrunisa praised Ms. Shar for getting approved 20 Million additional allocations for college’s face uplift. This well reflects International Nursing Council Theme: “Caring for nurses strenthens economies”
The Principal Ms. Rubina Shar said that Ms. Florence’s work during the Crimean War in 1858 served as a ground of modern nursing and research as well.

Member of PNMC Mr. Aijaz Kaleri said that we are also working on warfootings at PNMC to bring reforms and restore sanity at apex institution. He appealed all to take cognizance of developments at PNMC and strenthen their elected members.
Mr.Amanullah, Mr Sayed Shahid Mr.Hafiz Muhammad also admired the recent developments in this college.
The Ex Member PNMC and YNA leader Mr. Atta Rajpar added that long before Ms. Nightingale, Bibi Rufaida also rose at battle fields in Ghazwas some 1400 years ago.

Leader of Lawers’ Movement Advocate SC Hakim Ali Shar mentioned Bibi Haleema who nursed Holy Prophet and got honored since then and for all times to come. Mr. Fazal Wadood and Mr. Gagan Naveed Mr. Tharo Khan also got recognition and admirations for their unique roles.

Most of Q-CON faculty students and guests admired the leadership role of Ms. Shar and her team for uplifting the college and profession through her untiring efforts in team building, commitment and compassion.

Over all this IND at Q-CON well reflected the ICN Theme, national and global trends, awareness and sense of duty among our new generation leadership working context of the third decade of 21st century.

The Pakistan Nursing & Midwifery Council (PNMC) has introduced a new uniform dress code for nurses working in clinical settings across the country. The announcement, in an official letter from the PNMC dated January 31, 2024, stated guidance about professional attire of nursing staff in Pakistan.
