Islamabad (Senate of Pakistan Corridors) : Ms. Rafat Jan, President of Midwifery Association of Pakistan while her visit of Senate of Pakistan icame across with Chairman Senate & Ex PM Pakistan Mr. Yousif Raza Gilani in the corridors of Senate.
MAP President took a bold step and introduced herself. She successfully sought attention of the Chairman towards the impending merger plan of AHPC with PN&MC terming it as an unnatural and incompatible move with serious repercussions ahead.
The Chairman Senate heard her concerns and affirmed that in the upcoming scheduled meeting with leaders he will take formal stock of the situation and will play his part in institutional building rather than disintegration.
It is worth mentioning that Grand Alliance against the Merger of AHPC leader Ms. Raisa Gul - the recipient of the State Award Pride of Performance - has already requested chairman Senate for representation to voice serious implications of the proposed merger decision.
Earlier the Cabinet Division of Pakistan has sought compatibility reports of the merger of both Councils in government's move of rightsizing in federal ministries.
The Nurses across Pakistan and diaspora abroad has termed this merger as incompatible and anti nursing and anti national move.
On the other hand, various association across Pakistan have taken to roads to record token protests against the merger. Even AHPC is averse to this merger and, has started lobbying and token pritests against merger.
For the merger to take place, the new ACT Bill to get throught Cabinet, Standing Committees of National Assembly and Senate of Pakistan to pass through eventually needing president of Pakistan to annugate it as new law.
The Associations, federations and iconic leaders representing nurses and midwifery professionals have vowed to take their case at every stage and oppose it with their total logic and might.
