Leaders Across Pakistan Gather to Propose Amendment in PNMC ACT-2022 at PNMC Islamabad.

The physical and online congregation of nursing midwifery leaders from both private and public sector gathered to propose amendments as solution for PNMC Crisis and to thawrt subsequent Merger Plan that is still on cards.

This extraordinary meeting was astutely chaired by Prof. Dr. Raisa Gul and Co Chaired by DGN Punjab Madam Tahira Sagir attended by Nursing- Midwifery leaders across Pakistan including Brigadier Humera of AFNS. The minutes were recorded by Ms. Lubna and Mr. Asif Iqbal.

Following provisions were identified that needed amendment within parameters of the national policy framework for statuary bodies. Discussion was inconclusive that would be completed on Zoom Meeting on this Saturday.

1. The Preamble.
2. The Terms/ Definitions
3. Number of the Members (Not more than 19)
4. Ex. Officio Members DGNs).
5. The representation from Federations / Associations e.g PNF, PYNF & MAP et)
6. Method of Appointment (Election and Selecion Criteria for all members)
7. Electoral College Criteria for various members
8. The Nursing Examination Boards and their Nomenclature.
9. Ex Officio Members 
10. Increased Role and inclusion of Academia along with Service Sector/ Clinicians.
11. Experience and Academic Balancing

It was deplored that Professor Dr. Rafat Jan was bypassed mischievously along with some other important stakeholders were sidelined as well. The Chair / Co Chair and participants took serious note of it of this deliberate pick and choose by letter issuing officials.

New Nurses Uniform by Pakistan Nursing and Midwifery Council (January 2024)

The Pakistan Nursing & Midwifery Council (PNMC) has introduced a new uniform dress code for nurses working in clinical settings across the country. The announcement, in an official letter from the PNMC dated January 31, 2024, stated guidance about professional attire of nursing staff in Pakistan. The new dress code approved during the 6th session of the council held from January 15-17, 2024, under the leadership of Ms. Farzana Zulfiger, President of PNMC, specifies new uniforms for male and female nurses. PNC Amendment Act 2023: A Guide
