ADB intends to equip Dow Nursing & Midwifery Instute with State-of the- Art Teaching Learning Facilities

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) Chief Dr Najeeb Hameed, Ms Sofia Shakil (Technical Officer for China South &East Asia) & Dr Ali Shaikh visted Dow University Institute of Nursing (DIONAM-DUHS) Karachi on Missions' 3rd Day Study Tour of Sindh Province..
The visit of DIONAM was in sequence of earlier visits at Dr. Ruth Pfau C.oN, NICH C.oN, Lady Dufferin Hospital and Midwifery School consequent upon Minister Health Sindh's go-ahead gesture to assess and equip the nursing/ midwifery institutions according to present & future requirements to help produce global standard competent HRH workforce, particularly the Nursing and Midwifery Cadres.
At DIONAM DUHS, the high level delegation was recieved by Associate Professor Rubina Qasim who took them to visit its academic and dormitory blocks, Science,& Skill Labs and Library and Academiia of DIONAM.
ADB Mission expressed interest in assisting the DIONAM with state-of -the art teaching learning facilities as agreed with Minister Health & her team and Planning & Development Division of the provincial government as well.
ADB Chief Dr. Najeeb Hameed and Ms Sofia Shakil,(head of Medical Mission for China, South and East Asia,) said that DIONAM could be transformed into Center of Excellence for Nursing & Midwifery to cater future needs of its graduates and scores of public private sector nursing institutes affiliated with it.
The Mission further said that it strongly hopes that sooner than later an agreement between the Government of Sindh and ADB shall be signed to implement the mutually agreed interventions for increased production of the nursing workforce underlining the competencies required at an advanced level of care at national and in Overseas.
