Policy for Nursing Institutes of Sindh | High-Level Meeting





A high-level meeting of expert nursing professionals and officials from Health Department Sindh was organised at the Directorate of Nursing, Karachi on 13th April 2019. The meeting was chaired by Special Secretary Abdul Hafeez Abbasi. 

Agenda of the meeting

The agenda of the meeting was as follows:
(i) How to let establish new nursing institution as a large number of applications pending for NOC in the face of the known problem of mushrooming
(ii) Modus operandi to keep constant check and balance on already recognized low-quality institutions
(iii) Affiliations with the universities following PNC HEC & Government decision of replacing 3-Year General Nursing Diploma into 4-Year BS Nursing /BS Midwifery Program
(iv) Admissions Criteria: Gender Ratio / Quota / Age etc.
(v) Any other issue raised

New Nurses Uniform by Pakistan Nursing and Midwifery Council (January 2024)

The Pakistan Nursing & Midwifery Council (PNMC) has introduced a new uniform dress code for nurses working in clinical settings across the country. پاکستان نرسنگ کونسل نے پورے پاکستان میں 3سالہ جنرل نرسنگ ڈپلومہ پہ پابندی لگا دی ہے۔ 2018  ڈپلومہ کا آخری سال تھا۔ سال 2019میں جنرل نرسنگ کے ڈپلومہ پروگرام میں داخلے نہیں ہونگے۔ پاکستان نرسنگ کونسل کے 24ویں سیشن میں متفقہ طور پر یہ فیصلہ کیا گیا کہ 2019 میں جنرل نرسنگ ڈپلومہ کے  بجائے بی ایس این پروگرام میں داخلے ہوں گے۔ اس کے علاوہ یہ بھی فیصلہ کیا گیا کہ بی ایس این پروگرام میں فائلوں میں مرد و خواتین کے تناسب میں صوبے اپنی ضرورت کے حساب سے ردوبدل کر سکیں گے۔ اس حوالے سے رجسٹرار پاکستان نرسنگ کونسل نے تمام صوبائی ڈائیریکٹرز جنرل نرسنگ اور صوبائی چیئرمین نرسنگ امتحانی بورڈز کو ایک خط لکھا ہے۔ خط میں صدر مملکت کی ہدایات کا حوالہ دیتے ہوئے ملک بھر میں ڈپلومہ کو ختم کرنے اور بی ایس این کے فائلوں میں مرد و خواتین کے تناسب کے حوالے احکامات جاری کئیے گئے ہیں۔

A recent alert issued by the Directorate of Drugs Control, Punjab, highlights serious concerns about using intravenous (IV) ceftriaxone with calcium-containing products, such as Ringer Lactate. This alert is based on reports of adverse drug reactions and underscores the risk of IV admixture incompatibility. Healthcare professionals are advised to take immediate action to ensure patient safety.    Details of the Alert Issued By:  Punjab Pharmacovigilance Center  Key Concern Using IV ceftriaxone and calcium-containing products together can cause severe, potentially fatal complications due to precipitation in the bloodstream.
