The BS Nursing students of the 8th semester at the College of Nursing, NICH Karachi, Ms.Aneeqa Aruj, Bushra Khan, Neha Ilyas and Ms. Rizwana organized a Graded Nursing Seminar on the topic “New Dimensions of Care: A Historical Evolution of Nursing Profession”.
The seminar highlighted the time to time changes in nursing care across various civilizations which was beautifully presented by final year students. Their presentation encompassed the journey up to modern day nursing trends integrating artificial intelligence and technological advancements for more effective nursing services.
The graded session was supervised by renowned Nursing Scholar Madam Alia Nasir Principal of Rufaidah Hamdard College and Professor Amjad Khan, Principal of Jinnah College of Nursing Suhail University. The jury for this Seminar included Dr. Sara the Chief Pharmacist of NICH and senior nursing faculty from College of Nursing Korangi Ms. Shakeela Laghari.
In another seminar at the same beuatiful auditorium the students Ms. Rufaidah, Aneeza, and Sana Asif gave a detailed group presentation on the topic “Attitudes Matter: The National Perception of Nursing Care During Patient Care.” They effectively demonstrated how nursing care attitudes toward patients and their families can either elevate or diminish the social image of nursing. The seminar incorporated multimedia, national and international literature, and videos created by the students.
This seminar was presided over by former Director of Nursing Sindh and Principal of Korangi College, Shabbir Hussain Jhatial, while Ms. Shakeela Laghari and Dr. Sara again served as jury members.
During the opening remarks, Principal Ms. Shabana Wazir expressed her gratitude to her faculty, especially NICH Executive Director Professor Dr. Nasir Siddal and the department heads, who have always supported the college. She proudly shared that the college’s second cohort is about to complete their final semester.
Ms. Shabana Wazir Solangi also emphasized that the seminar series has been evaluated by renowned nursing scholars from across the city, providing students with invaluable learning experiences. She sincerely thanked the esteemed guests for their presence and support.
The jury members and judges appreciated the students' performance, quality, and confidence. Associate Professor Alia Nasir and Professor Amjad Hussain remarked that the significance of this college among public institutions is evident to all. They metaphorically noted that only bats can deny the light, as they close their eyes sun shines.
The Key Speaker Shabbir Hussain Jhatial highlighted that nurses represent the soft image of Pakistani society. He proudely mentioned w that among the world’s 100 best nurses, eight are from Pakistan. Addressing the students, he said, “Your faculty and principal are shaping future leaders in nursing, and their efforts will soon bring recognition to public sector nursing institutions across Sindh.”
It is noteworthy that weekly seminars have been ongoing for about a month, with prominent nursing scholars from across the city observng to evaluate and encourage students. These seminars have also attracted students from other colleges who come to observe the performances of NICH-CON students.
At the conclusion of the Seminar, the jury members, faculty, and the Principal distributed certificates to the successful presenters while capturing memorable photographs.
