As you know very well that being a developing country, our health indicators are already in the worst condition. Hence, the products from these low-quality nursing institutions will not improve the health indicators or promote safe nursing care. In future, the healthcare sector will face negligence, malpractice and mismanagement in nursing care. The low-quality nursing institutions and ghost nursing students are spread all over Pakistan.
Only a few nursing institutions have fulfilled the registration and recognition SOPs of Pakistan Nursing Council (PNC). Majority of nursing institutions do not have their own building. These nursing institutions are working in rented 120 yards mini size houses/bungalows. Whereas, around two-acre land is required for the establishment of any nursing institute as per SOPs of PNC.
Moreover, 80 - 85% of faculty members must be on the regular basis and only 15% should be as visiting faculty. Whereas, the on-ground reality is inverse.
Furthermore, the majority of nursing institutes do not have their own 300 to 500 bedded hospitals which are a basic requirement of PNC. Mini size private nursing institutions just show the MOUs at the time of PNC inspection. The PNC inspection teams fulfil the formalities only. All registrations and recognition of low-quality nursing institutions happen by under the table deals.
Classes are not conducted in these mini size nursing institutions, they are just concerned with monthly tuition fee. Most of these nursing institutions provide outdated notes to students and ask them to come when the exam date sheet will be announced.
Most of these mini size nursing institutions have been offering the Post-RN BScN degree programmes, even the students are performing their jobs in Islamabad, Punjab and foreign countries simultaneously. They have completed the Post-RN BScN degree from the different nursing institutions of Sindh.
How can you expect that a product of these substandard institutions will be sound in nursing and medical knowledge? How can you expect safe hands for the patients' good prognosis and wellbeing?
This is the actual scenario of nursing profession in Pakistan. Pakistan Nursing Council is the biggest source of corruption in nursing profession of Pakistan.
Lastly, I would say that the one who speaks truth has no friends.
