Health Minister Dr. Azra Fazal Gets Crucial Projects Approved in High Level Pre- Budget Meeting chaired by CM Sindh

This high level moot was also attended by Chief Secretary Sindh, Chairman Planning & Development Board, Sindh's Ombudsman, Principal Secretary to CM, Health Secretary, Finance Secretary & Population Welfare Secretary.

"4-Year Review" : The Chief Minister Sindh was briefed about The high level meeting reviewed the last four-year health indicators with some milestones achieved and also some gaps were identified. "Evaluating health performance indicators aims to improve the healthcare system and address gaps in service delivery" the CM remarked.
"Vaccination": Routine immunization coverage in Sindh is currently 69%". The Chief Minister was briefed that raising EPI (Expanded Program on Immunization) coverage to 95% the recruitment of 3,500 vaccinators and technical staff was needed which was also approved.
"LHWs Coverage" It was said that Lady Health Workers' current community outreach is 41% of the population. It was approved that 1 LHW should serve 1200 people and agreed to induct more LHWs in the system to increase 80% coverage.

It was revealed that presently one Nursing Staff per 42,000 population is recruited. On this additional nurse recruitment to close the gap was also decided.

Regarding Infrastructure Projects the construction of Medical & Surgical Towers at Civil Hospital Karachi was approved and an Institute of Urology in Larkana was approved.

In relation to robust Health Information System (HIS) the upgradation of the System was approved for improved data management.

For Nutrition Healthcare Facilities(NHFs) 11 new Nutrition Stabilization Centers were approved. It was also decided to restore 714 Outpatient Therapeutic Program (OTP) sites to operationalize those at optimum level. In addition, the upgrade of 125 Non-Communicable Disease Screening Units at district HQ, taluka HQ, and rural health centers were given approval in the new budget.

In conclusion, this high level pre-budget meeting focused on enhancing healthcare access, workforce expansion, infrastructure development and data-driven improvements to achieve equitable health services across province.
