In a significant initiative for maternal healthcare, Lady Dufferin Hospital recently hosted a focused one-day workshop aimed at equipping healthcare providers with critical skills in managing eclampsia, applying the EMOTIVE bundle for postpartum hemorrhage (PPH), and enhancing leadership in obstetrics and gynecology. This workshop, organized collaboratively by the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) and the Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Pakistan (SOGP), received sponsorship from Helix Pharma.
With seventy participants in attendance, including doctors, midwifery and nursing staff, and community midwifery students from Lady Dufferin Hospital, the workshop delivered practical insights and hands-on training on three pivotal components of maternal healthcare:
- Management of Eclampsia with Magnesium Sulfate (MgSO4) – A crucial intervention to control severe eclamptic episodes.
- Application of the EMOTIVE Bundle for PPH – A strategic, evidence-based approach to reduce maternal mortality and manage hemorrhage effectively.
- Leadership Skills Development – Essential soft skills in clinical leadership, fostering a proactive approach among healthcare providers.
Esteemed presenters at the event included:
Dr. Zaryab Setna
Prof. Razia Korejo

Prof. Shehla Baqai
Each speaker brought their specialized expertise, enriching the workshop experience for all participants. The agenda underscored the importance of preventive and responsive measures in maternal health, aiming to bolster the skills of frontline healthcare professionals in life-saving obstetric practices.
This workshop exemplify the dedication of organizations like FIGO and SOGP, along with supportive partners like Helix Pharma, to foster a safer healthcare environment for mothers and infants across Pakistan.
