Three Days MAP Moot: Press Release

Karachi : Pakistan's representative professional association of Midwives, Lady Health Visitors, the "Midwifery Association of Pakistan (MAP)" held its National Body Meeting in a local Hotel from 4 to 6th June in Karachi under its newly elected President Doctor Professor Rafat Jan - a known Midwifery Academia.

The National Body of MAP consists of 12 Board members from all provinces, Gilgit Baltistan, AJK and four members Executive Body.

The three days moot reflected on past achievements of MAP since its foundation in 2006 and, the areas of improvement and action for the coming three years. 
The national congregation of midwives chalked futuristic strategic plan for coming three years focussing on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) along with Government of Sindh and partners.

The concluding session of third was marked with auspicous presence of Honorable Minister of Health and Population Welfare Dr. Azra Fazal Pechu who sought liaison between Government, MAP, Path Finders, Unicef, UNFPA and WHO for assisting the Health Departments initiatives for providing reproductive health services at far off corners. The Minister apprised the midwifery leaders and partners of Sindh Governments plan of mobile services at people's doorsteps through Ambulance Network which will be led by Community Midwives. She further revealed of passing a Reproductive Health ACT to be headed by CM Sindh and Minister of Health for improvements in maternal child health care and to reduce IMR and MMR in the province. 

The conference was also attended by Dr. Dabeer Ahmed Khan, Dr. Yasmeen Qazi, Dr. Talib Lashari Dr. Ghambhir and other important dignitries from partner organization.

President MAP, a globally recognized midwife icon of Pakistan, thanked the gracious Minister of Health &Population Welfare on behalf of Board Members for her wise advice, encouragement and identifying areas for working together to achieve shared goals of Government of Sindh, World Health Organization UNICEF and the Midwifery Association of Pakistan.
 The three days' session concluded with presenting Momentos of Midwifery Association to Chief Guest Dr. Azra Fazal Pechu, the Honorable Minister of Health as Chief Guest and, the dignitries of partner organizations that attended this historic congregation of Midwifery leaders from across Pakistan.

New Nurses Uniform by Pakistan Nursing and Midwifery Council (January 2024)

The Pakistan Nursing & Midwifery Council (PNMC) has introduced a new uniform dress code for nurses working in clinical settings across the country. The announcement, in an official letter from the PNMC dated January 31, 2024, stated guidance about professional attire of nursing staff in Pakistan. The new dress code approved during the 6th session of the council held from January 15-17, 2024, under the leadership of Ms. Farzana Zulfiger, President of PNMC, specifies new uniforms for male and female nurses.
